Apple to offer free beer incentive program with headless iMac

December 30th, 2004

Apple is rumored to be involved in talks with several major brewers to kick off a promotional event to help kick start sales of its headless iMac to be released at MWSF. The promotion is being called get free head and is being targeted primarily at secondary education institutions.

The idea for the promotion came from college intern Jake Zula (aka MC Q….no relation to Shake Zula). While working in a marketing group discussing inexpensive monitor offerings to list as BTO options, the combination of the word “free” and “head” came up. This reminded Jake of a situation he had encountered in the previous semester at which point he blurted out, “all you have to do is get her drunk and tell her you’re on the hockey team.” The marketing gurus loved the suggestion as they didn’t understand that J.Z. wasn’t referencing a computer. The next 3 hours were spent deciding on the background color for the new commercials. The final decision: white.

TMA Linux News

December 28th, 2004

First: Linux found to be the most hacked OS while OSX/BSD found to be most secure. I especially like the comment about “umpteen flavors of Linux” and a lack of contiguous structure.

Second: Linus himself sheds some light on why linux is so disorderly. It’ll be fun to watch Sun overtake Linux in the next couple years…even if it is “a joke.”

Third:
I usually install linux on my toilet once or twice a day…but you can also install it on your ipod if you want to. Something else to do with that shiny new christmas gift. Why would you want to limit yourself and use it as a simple, compact music player when it can play much less music (no AAC) and have much more crap on it? The review is interesting…it’s another one of those “do it for the sake of doing it” things it seems. At the very least it shows the flexibility of the iPod hardware.

Fourth:
…I know I can cook something up here….AH YES! PPC/OSX is within 16,000,000 blocks of x86/Linux as per the RC5 platform stats page. About 150 days out from passing them…less if you get your mac crunching blocks.
