Darmok and Jalad at White House

November 4th, 2008

The American political system is a strange beast indeed. Every few years we look into our populace of 300,000,000 people and select a few hundred of the dumbest, most polarizing, least qualified people as “potential candidates.” We then have a series of primary elections where we eliminate anyone competent who may have, by some accident, made it that far. This leaves us with a “tough” choice between the two worst possible leaders out of the aforementioned 300,000,000 people. Approximately 5 people will pick one candidate and say he/she is the most amazing/dynamic leader since Jesus Christ. 7.2 other people will pick another candidate and say he/she is the next Ghandi. The remaining 299,999,985.8 (subtracting the two fools on the ballot) collectively yawn and usually cast their vote on election day based on whether they had jelly or syrup for breakfast (after 10 minutes it’s automatic).

Some of us believe that the world deserves better…

UAF Micromouse 2008

June 24th, 2008

Something I haven’t posted on much here is the micromouse competition I’ve been involved in. It’s an end to end design contest where you go from drawings/schematics to a physical design to a programmed running robot. Our team here at UAF has won the last two years and this year our design was highly refined.

Our design photos are under “Micromouse at UAF” in the menu on the left of the site. If you have any questions about our designs feel free to ask.
